Report says some unknown gunmen have killed over 20 people in Igangan, one of the towns in Ibarapa North local government area of Oyo state.
According to residents who did not want their names mentioned, the incident occured on Saturday night when the gunmen invaded the town around 11pm on more than 20 motorcycles.
The bandits numbering about 50 reportedly struck with sophisticated weapons entering houses and shooting sporadically.
The Palace of the Asigangan as well as a popular petroleum station in town were said not to have been spared in the attack by the unknown gunmen as they were razed by the suspected bandits.
A former caretaker chairman of the council, Tunji Omolewu confirmed the incident to newsmen.
The Police in Oyo state are yet to confirm the incident but the state commandant of Amotekun, Olayinka Olayanju explained that his officers had been at the scene of the incident to restore peace to the town.
