Gov. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state has humbly declined a proposed conferment of a honorary degree on him by the Nahda International University Khartoum, Sudan.

This was contained In a statement signed by special Adviser to the governor on media and publication, Alh Muhammad Bello and made available to newsmen in Sokoto.

The statement says the award is part of the graduation ceremony of 38 students of Sokoto state extraction who bagged degrees in Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Laboratory Sciences and Information Communication Technology at the Ibn Sina University.

It says Tambuwal declined the offer shortly after his arrival in Khartoumo informing the management of the university that he would not take the offer because of the prevailing situation of insecurity in Nigeria.

According to the statement, the governor regrets that the current happening in his country does not give room for celebration, stressing that Nigeria is marred with various security challenges that needs all hands to be on deck to control the situation.
