It was indeed a flamboyant gathering of high profile and hard working individuals as Radio Nigeria Positive Fm Akure rolled out the drums to honour those who have impacted the society in no small measure.
The event which came in grand style was also accompanied with a lecture on “Good governance in Nigeria: the place of Radio and social media”
The event which was second of its kind had Goodness Hall and event palace, Ondo road Akure filled to capacity as friends and lovers of the award recipients as well as positive fm family and staff graced the occasion.
Delivering the lecture, Dr Gbenga Abimbola of Adekunle Ajasin University, maintained that the role of Radio cannot be overstressed in good governance as it remains the easiest and viable means through which the people could question and assess their leaders.
Dr Abimbola while appraising the advent of the social media however cautioned the people to always resort to the traditional media to confirm news as social media was susceptible to fake news.
Earlier, The chairman of the occasion, Former Deputy Governor of Ondo state, Alhaji Abdulazziz Oluboyo and the special guest of Honour, Mrs Taye Omolafe had described positive Fm as a forerunner in broadcasting in Ondo state with respect to its different programming.
Speaking on behalf of other award recipients after receiving his the award of Traditional ruler of repute, the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye noted that he fell in love with Positive Fm because of its commitment to professionalism.
The award recepients included Chairman Ondo APC, Mr Ade Adetimehin who was honored with exemplary political leadership award, Chairman Ondo PDP, Mr Fatai Adams who received Outstanding politician of note, Mr Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, Distinguished Grassroots politician, Mrs Olayinka Michael (Psquare) Positive FM Ambassador , Commandant, Police Secondary School Akure CSP Abdul Olayinka Zulu Gambari Outstanding leadership Award, Alhaja Ebunola Adefisoye Outstanding School Administrator, Mr Tomiwa Akinrinsola Outstanding funeral services provider while Mrs Titilayo Adesewa and Miss Oladuti Abimbola bagged Creativity award.
Also recognized were Mrs Iyabo Olanrewaju and Alhaji Ibrahim Kilani while Retired staff, Mr Gbenga Bernard and Mr Segun Ajayi were presented with Gifts for their contributions to Radio Nigeria.
In a remark, the zonal Director FRCN Ibadan, Mrs Bolanle Owoyemi who expressed delight at the success of the event explained that Positive FM remains a force to reckon with in broadcasting in Nigeria.
In an address, The General Manager positive Fm, Akure Mr Tunde Abiodun who could not contain his joy stressed that the award recepients were carefully selected owing to their contribution to the society promising that the station would sustain the initiative to serve as motivation for those honoured to do more.
Highpoint of the event was presentation of cash gifts by Mrs Olayinka Michael (Psquare) to the winners of positive FM Essay competition: Akadiri Damilola of St Louis Grammar sch Akure, Akinniyi Victor of Comfort Tenderfeet college and Oluwaponmile Emmanuel of Aquinass College, Akure .
