About two hundred widows have benefited from the widows’ support initiative of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists , NAWOJ, Ondo state .
The empowerment programme is part of the activities lined up for the 2021 NAWOJ WEEK and in commemoration of this year’s International’s Widows’ day
The widows went home with both cash to start up small scale business and foodstuffs for their families.

Presenting the items to the widows, a former National Auditor of NAWOJ, Mrs Sola Jacobs urged them to make judicious use of the opportunity to be self reliant.

Mrs Jacobs commended Ondo NAWOJ for the efforts at improving the lives of the widows in the state .
Earlier, the chairperson of NAWOJ in Ondo State, Mrs Doris olumoko had said the gesture was to help the widows to cushion the effects of the economic hardship in the country.
Some of the widows while appreciating the women journalists for their kindness appealed to the federal government to take proactive steps at reducing the spate of insecurity in the country.

Two of them, Mrs Blessing Adebusuyi and Mrs Hannah ugwah urged government to protect school girls from incessant kidnapping in every part of the country .
