A bill for a law to make provision for the Ondo State House of Assembly Legislative Funds Management and other matters connected therewith 2021 has been passed into law by the Lawmakers.

Similarly, a bill for a law to provide for the establishment of an independent office of the Auditor General and provide for the audit Of public account and for purposes ancillary thereto has also been passed into law.

The passage followed submission of reports by the Chairmen, House Committees on the bills at the plenary led by the Speaker, Mr Bamidele Oleyelogun.

The Chairman house committee on selection, Mr Samuel Aderoboye and Chairman house committee on public account, Mr Festus Adefiranye both said the bills were in the best interest of all citizens of Ondo State and enhance democratic governance.

According to Mr. Adefiranye the bill is aimed at the giving the auditor general an autonomy that will bring about credence, transparency and control in the public service.

The committee had earlier held a public hearing with financial stakeholders on the bill where they brainstormed and agreed that there was need for the bill to be passed into law to meet up with global best practice.

The committee recalled that the law was passed in 2017 adding that, the amendment became imperative for the benefits of the State.
