A law to provide for the establishment of the Ondo State Security Trust Fund and for other connected purposes is underway.

This was revealed at a public hearing by the Ondo State House of Assembly tagged “Security Trust Fund” held at the conference room of the assembly.

Declaring the public hearing open, the Speaker, Mr Bamidele Oleyelogun emphasized on the importance of funding security sector considering the spate of insecurity across the country.

Mr Oleyelogun urged individuals, organizations and private sector to support the initiative of the security trust fund in the interest of all.

Earlier, the chairman, house committee on Security, Culture, Tourism, Community Development and Cooperative Societies, Mr Ololade Gbegudu had pledged that the lawmakers would do the needful by ensuring speedy passage of the bill into law.

Stakeholders at the public hearing which included representatives of the ministry of finance, Ondo State Security Network, codenamed Amotekun, civil society organisations and ODIRS among others took turn to speak on the bill and notes were taken for necessary amendment.
