Stealing of vehicle parts has become rampant in Akoko area of Ondo state and the situation has become worrisome to residents especially car owners.

According to some victims, the robbers perpetrators usually scale the fence at night to carry out their nefarious activities.

Positive Fm gathered that their targets  are brain box, batteries and other expensive parts of vehicles

It was also learnt that eight of such cases have been recorded in the last few days in areas as olokun, ministry and similoluwa axis of Agbaluku Arigidi with the stolen vehicle parts estimated at about three million naira.

Two of the victims, a don at the Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko, Professor Ade Mohammed and a landlady, Alhaja Titi olanipekun whose vehicles brainbox and other accessories were removed called on security agencies to embark on night patrol of streets in Ikare Akoko to ward off the criminals.

Another victim, a commercial driver simply called baba Sandra and his Igbo neighbour also recounted their losses as they had their cars vandalised and some parts carted away.

Meanwhile Some concerned citizens have advised landlords and residents to employ night guards to reduce cases of car vandalism in the ancient town as motor parts are expensive now.

Efforts to speak with the Okeagbe police Dpo, Supretendnt of police Ade Akinwande on the matter was unsuccessful as the time of filing in this report.
