Good roads, no doubt fastrack developments in any society.
This is why residents of Information Village, Adebowale, Ondo road Akure have taken the bold step of rehabilitating the only major road that leads to the community through self help after many failed promises by government.
Information village Adebowale is a popular area in the Ondo road axis of Akure, the Ondo state capital.
The community houses schools, companies, residential homes, markets among others but the major amenity lacking in the area is a good access.
The residents have however taken their destiny in their own hands by contributing money to fix a part of the road which they claimed had brought untold hardship to them especially during rainy season.
When positive fm visited the ongoing project, construction workers were seen trying to meet deadline.
Speaking with Positive fm, chairman of the community Mr. Olanrewaju Oluwateru noted that residents could no longer bear the deplorable situation of the road hence the communal effort.
To ensure that the project is done to specifications, the community put in place a rehabilitation committee, working with the contractor handling the job.
A member of the committee, Mrs Olanike Okunbo appealed to government to assist the information village Adebowale by constructing the remaining part of the road and link roads in the area so as to easily connect neighbouring communities.
Another member of the committee, Mr. Sheyi Akintunde lamented the high rate of accidents on the road as a result of its deplorable condition.
The site Engineer, Mr Martins Owoyemi commended the efforts of residents, promising to work according to specifications.
It is the hope of residents of the area that the road when fully constructed hy government would open up information village Adebowale area on Ondo Road to more developments.
