History was made on Saturday in Afin Akoko, Akoko Northwest local government as the newly installed monarch of the ancient town, Oba Abdulroheem Adejoro was presented with a staff of office by Ondo state governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, after 75yrs that such event took place in the town.
Afin Akoko went agog as dignitaries including sons and daughters of the ancient town witnessed the epoch making occasion.
The late Alafin Of Afin, Oba Idris Oloruntegbe reigned for 60years while the stool was vacant for 15 years.
Performing the ceremony, Governor Akeredolu called on the new Alafin, Oba Adejoro to unite the entire community for rapid development,
The governor urged the monarch to rule the town with wisdom and his vast experience going by his rich profile as a university don.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of local government, Mr Olu Odusanya, Governor Akeredolu also encouraged the people of Afin Akoko to co-operate with the monarch so that the community can move forward.
In his response, the monarch, Oba Abdulroheem Adejoro promised to harness all resources to rebuild the town and ensure that it regained all it lost during the 15years that the town was without an Oba.
Oba Adejoro commended the present administration for rehabilitating the Afin- okeagbe road.
