Primary and secondary schools calendar in Nigeria was altered in 2020 following the lockdown announced by the federal government to curb the spread of the deadly coronavirus during which schools were closed for almost five months.

Upon resumption, government designed new calendar for schools to help them meet up with 2020/2021 academic session, a situation which shortened all end of term holidays.
