An Unidentified gunmen suspected to be bandits have kidnapped a nursing mother and her eighth month old baby in Damba, the outskirt of Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.

The woman’s husband, Babangida Ibrahim Damba said he sustained various degrees of gunshot wounds in the process of trying to save his wife and child.

Damba also explained that the incident occurred when the armed bandits stormed the Damba low-cost housing estate in Gusau, the state capital.

They shot sporadically in the air making residents to scamper for safety.

Eyewitnesses told Positive Fm that the criminals forced their way into the residence of Babangida Damba and shot him in the hand before carrying out their criminal act.

The state Police Public relations officer,  SP Mohammed Shehu confirmed the incident.

He, however, said that armed troops of the command have been deployed to trail the kidnappers and to ensure the possible rescue of the nursing mother and her eight month old child.
