A new Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG, Mr Etim Ene-Okon has been deployed to oversee ZONE-Seventeen of Ondo and Ekiti States.

Assuming duty in Akure, AIG Ene-Okon promised to sustain relative stability and peace in the two states, noting that he would get proper briefing from the two police state commands on how to tackle isolated cases of crimes.

On the recent killings of Ondo state bound travellers in Plateau state by gunmen, the new AIG appealed to the people of Akoko area to remain calm as the Inspector General of Police, the Ondo state and the federal governments were working hard to fish out perpetrators for punishment.

Mr Ene-Okon cautioned against reprisal attack in Akokoland over the Jos killings, promising that justice would be done.

Until his recent posting to Zone 17 Akure, Mr Ene-Okon was the AIG Zone 9, Umuahia.

The Ondo state Commissioner of police,Mr Bolaji Salami and other top police hierarchy received the new AIG to his office in Akure.
