Women groups from southwest states have converged for the second quarterly meeting of southwest women Arise for Nigeria SWAFFON conference to advocate for one Nigeria as they passed a vote of confidence on governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state for his support for women

In a communiqué signed by the President of SWAFFON Dr Hannatu Adeeko and the vice president ,yeye Ifeyinwa omowole, the governor was singled out for his developmental strides at empowering women and giving them adequate supports.

Governor Bello was commended for being the only governor to use a woman as his ADC and also have women as local government administrators in the state

On the purpose of the conference the communique emphasised that the convergence became necessary considering the various agitations from different quarters geared towards segregating the country .

The communique notes that it was necessary considering the danger that segregating the country would pose to each tribes and region hence the need for women as mothers to work towards a more united Nigeria and safer nation .

Dr Adeeko and yeye omowole appealed to women to be agents of change by supporting the dreams and aspirations of fellow women especially as the election years draws near.

They solicited government urgent intervention towards addressing the increasing spate of insecurity in the nation which they said posed serious challenge for the girlchild education and their wellbeing .

Some Nollywood stars at the conference also added their voices to the call for a better Nigeria ,Bimbo Akintola ,fathia balogun, Joke Muyiwa and others noted that a country safer for the citizen would bring about development and progress.

They urged every citizen to contribute their quota towards achieving a better and saner society

Over 40 women were empowered at the conference with fifty thousand naira each.
