As part of efforts to sustain professionalism, Radio Nigeria Ibadan zonal station has commenced an in- house training of its News and programme staff across the zone.
One of the trainings taking place in Positive FM , Akure is themed “A right approach to translation and editing in a competitive broadcasting environment”
Declaring the seminar open, the General Manager Positive FM Akure, Mr Tunde Abiodun who commended the Ibadan zonal station of FRCN for the in-house training enjoined the participants to be attentive to make the best use of it.
Mr Abiodun also asked the management of Radio Nigeria to urgently explore opportunities of training staff in digital journalism especially with new media and online journalism.
The resource person, elder Adenrele Ajisefini who is also the Deputy Director News and current affairs FRCN Ibadan zonal station said the training was meant to brace up professionalism which the corporation prides itself in.
Elder Ajisefini explained that aside from mentoring the staff on the area of effective translation in Yoruba Language and editing of bulletins, the sessions would also afford the staff the opportunity og attitudinal change.
In a remark, the Head of News unit, Mrs Dupe Isename and Head of Programs Mrs Busola Oladimeji noted that the training was imperative as many staff had not had the opportunity of attending the FRCN Training School many years after they were employed.
Some of the participants Mrs Bukola Bardi, Mr Olumide Abudu, Mr Olumide Odeyemi and Head of marketing Mrs Zariat Alli were optimistic that the in-house training would afford them the opportunity to rethink, restrategize and reposition the station for better performance.
They however appealed for adequate provision of equipment to enhance service delivery.
