The Ondo State House of Assembly has charged the State Bureau of Statistics to ensure collation of accurate data for the overall development of the state.

The House Committee on Finance and Appropriation led by its Chairman, Mr Sunday Olajide gave the charge while on a familiarization visit to the office of Statistician General of the state, Mr Wole Agunbiade.

The Chairman of the committee, Mr Olajide who emphasized on the importance of accurate data collation for proper planning called for synergy with the Bureau at ensuring ease of operation.

Speaking during the visit, a member of the committee and the Majority Leader, Mr Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi stressed the need for systemic approach to data collection and the essence of accuracy for well structured planning by Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

Other members of the committee took turn to speak on the importance of statistics in states and nation’s building.

Earlier, the Statistician General, Mr Wole Agunbiade commended the committee for the visit and appealed for intervention in budgetary allocation to the Bureau for smooth running of their operations.
