The Rivers hoopers basketball club of Port Harcourt have been declared winners of the 2021 Nigeria basketball premier league(Atlantic conference) decided at the indoor hall of the Akure sports complex.

The Port Harcourt based team finished top with sixteen points after winning all eight games.

Speaking to Journalists, Nigeria basketball federation NBBF coordinator Victor Umar expressed joy with the return of the league after court tussle that lasted over three years.

Mr Umar while giving the competition a pass mark challenged coaches and players to buckle up, stressing that the NBBF have more competitions for them.

Also speaking on his assessment of the just concluded league, head coach of Invaders basketball team of Ekiti, Michael Ojo advocated better preparation for the league.

Ondo state basketball coach, Sola Aluko who also commended NBBF for organizing the competition said it would further encourage the boys and coaches to aspire for their dream of playing professional basketball.

Coach Sola Aluko who is also the handler of Ondo raiders basketball team however frowned at the welfare packages towards the competition saying NBBF can do better next season.

One of the players Alonge Olumide of the ONDO RAIDERS while expressing joy for participating in the league said it afforded him a chance to mix with other players and garner more experience from colleagues.

The 2021 Nigeria basketball premier league started on the 8th of September in two venues Abuja and Akure with 22 teams and 11 for each city.
