Troops of One Division of the Nigerian Army Kaduna in collaboration with sister agencies have rescued Major Datong, who was abducted by bandits at the Nigerian Defence Academy.
This was contained in a statement by the Deputy Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Ezindu Idimah in Kaduna.
It explained that the operations were conducted based on several leads received from various sources regarding the abductors and likely locations the officer was being held.
The statement maintained that the operations which have been sustained since the abduction proved successful and led to the destruction of several bandits camp in the Afaka-Birnin Gwari general area.
In a gun duel with the bandits, troops were able to rescue the abducted officer who sustained minor injury, which has been treated and handed over to the NDA for further action.
The statement commended the Nigerian Airforce, DSS, Police and patriotic Nigerians for their invaluable support to the success of the operation, and assured that the assailants who killed two officers at NDA would be captured or neutralized.
