Residents of Ayede Ogbese in Akure North council area have expressed frustration with the continued destruction of their farmlands by the activities of herdsmen.

The people converged on the palace of Alayede of Ogbese in their large number to show their grievances claiming the anti open grazing law was not effective in the community.

One of the chiefs , Chief Simon oduh and Mr Sunday Abi said series of meetings held with the Miyetti Allah in the area had not yielded any positive result as the herdsmen remained adamant.

The people threatened that farmers in the community might resort to self help in collaboration with the local hunters and vigilantes to free their community of herdsmen attack with the support of Amotekun agency

In her response, the Regent of Ayede Ogbese princess Bukola Akinyede said the people of Ayede Ogbese had been law abiding while the herdsmen made life difficult for the farmers.

Princess Akinyede who said she had contacted the state commissioner of police and the council authorities demanded urgent intervention of government to address the looming crisis.
