Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state has asked the chief of Army Staff for more reinforcements to the north west to curtail the incessant killings happening in the region.
The Governor made the request when the chief of army staff lieutenant general Faruk Yahya paid him a courtesy call in his office.
The governor regretted that the bandits had yesterday killed more than thirty people in a market in Goranyo local Government area of the state.
Governor Tambuwal noted that the activities of the bandits had short changed the socio-security and economic development of the county stressing that all hands must be on deck in addressing security challenges in the county.
Earlier, the chief of army staff expressed his satisfaction on the support and commitment of the governor towards the Nigeria Army.
He noted that the office of the chief of army staff is aware of all the support provided to the army by the Sokoto state government.
Lieutenant general Faruk Yahya said the army is working on modalities towards ending insurgency in the county.
while in the Sultan palace, the chief of army staff said Sultan Muhammad Saad Abubakar has been supporting advising the army in all the success recorded in the fight against insurgency not only in the north west but the county in general.
In a remark, the Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Saad Abubakar assured that they would continue to pray and support the Nigeria army in maintaining security situation.
The Sultan also called on the army to ensure total support to the chief of army staff with a view to achieving the desired objective.
