In a bid to combat the menace of Insecurity in the State the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ondo State Command has expressed her readiness to commence Security training for 3,212 teachers across 1.606 Schools in Ondo State.
This was confirmed in a statement signed and made available to the news men by the Command Spokesperson DSC Olufemi Omole on Thursday 21st October, 2021 in Akure.
The State Commandant, Dr Hammed Abodunrin said the Command is currently training a Special Female Squad to combat the menace of Insecurity in Schools across the State; while Divisional Officers heading the local governments who would in turn train the teachers and students in their respective domain are also on training.
He noted that ” this indeed will upscale the knowledge of our teachers and students about Security threats and necessary measures to put in place during emergencies”.
Speaking further with the newsmen on the Command activities within the four months of his assumption of duty, Commandant Abodunrin said the Command has arrested 12 Suspects and 10 Tankers impounded for allegedly dealing illegally in petroleum products suspected to be adulterated automotive gas oil (AGO).
He disclosed further that while Safeguarding all Critical National Assets and Infrastructure in the State, the Command made the arrest One suspect who vandalized Electrical Armour Cables and recently 3 Suspects were arrested for stealing and selling 8 Prepaid meters at Alagbaka and Ijapo Estate.
The State Commandant expressed worry about the repeated cases of Sexual defilement of minor and other Gender Based Violence cases. He said about 66 cases of Family crisis, Battery, Juvenile deliquency, Child abuse, sexual abuse of minors were handled by the Gender, Antihuman Trafficking and illegal migration Unit of the Command; 3 Suspects were arrested for defilement for minor, about 43 family crisis were reported while all the Suspects have been charged to Court for the various offences committed.
” We will continue to work relentlessly and assiduously in synergy with relevant Sister Agencies to ensure our Schools, communities and the entire State remain a safe haven for all dwellers…he said”.
Dr Abodunrin further advice the public to collaborate with the NSCDC Ondo State Command by giving credible information that will assist to nip in the bud all act of criminalities across the State.
