The Nigeria Correctional Service, Oyo state command says it has begun a manhunt for some inmates of Abolongo Prison in Oyo town who escaped on Friday during an attack on the facility by some gunmen.
The Public Relations Officer of the Command, Mr Anjorin Olanrewaju while confirming the incident said the Service was collaborating with sister agencies and local security network to nab the fleeing inmates.
He explained that the State Controller of the Service, Mr Tosin Akinrinjomu has visited the affected facility in Abolongo to ascertain the level of damage done by the gunmen.
He enjoined the residents in and around the environment to report any suspicious movement or traces of the escaped inmates to the nearest security agency.
Mr olarewaju promised that the command would do all his best to arrest the fleeing inmates and bring them back to the facility at Abolongo.
Meanwhile, the Commandant of the Oyo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps), Retired Colonel Olayinka Olayanju has confirmed the death of one of his personnel in the incident.
Olayanju also said three others sustained injures.
According to Retired Colonel Olayanju, a female Corp of the network was in critical condition at University College Hospital, Ibadan. UCH.
The commandant also confirmed the arrest of three escaped inmates of the Prison around midnight by their officers at Atiba local government, Oyo.
The correctional facility in Abolongo, Oyo town was attacked by gunmen at about 10pm on Friday and set some inmates free in the process.
It was gathered that the gunmen used grenades to gain access to the Prision .
