Residents of Idanre, the Nigeria’s largest Cocoa producing area and historic town in Ondo State located at the foot of the scenic Idanre Hill will continue to remember Radio Nigeria positive FM, Akure for Agbawumi, a programme for the aged parents

The event which took place at the palace of Owa of Idanre kingdom in Ondo State, Oba Fredrick Aroloye began with medical check up and traditional music for the elders who trooped to the palace in beautiful attires for the celebration

 

Welcoming the senior citizens and invited guests to the event, the general manager positive FM Akure, Mr Tunde Abiodun said Agbawumi programme was informed by the love of Radio Nigeria to care for the elders

Mr Abiodun who recognized the efforts of Oba Aroloye at ensuring the success of the event reaffirmed that Positive fm would continue its unbiased and inclusion of the grassroots in its reportage.

In a remark, the Owa of Idanre, Oba Aroloye who commended Positive fm for staging the programme encouraged the elders to take care of their health and also relate well with their families

In a health talk, the Chief medical director, Idanre general hospital, Dr Kayode Omisogbon who was represented by Dr Olaniyi Ayodele encouraged the senior citizens to visit hospitals regularly for check up to avert chronic medical conditions such as diabetes and hypertension.

Dr Omisogbon also encouraged children to prioritize the care for their aged parents.

Earlier, the chairman, organizing committee, Mr Friday Adodo had hinted that the Agbawumi event was to enhance the lives of the elders.

The event witnesses presentation of awards to some Nigerians who had identified with Positive fm Akure over the years.

They include, a don with the Adekunle University Akungba Akoko, Dr Adedayo Afe who is a regular analyst on the radio station, Mr Olu Bright, A member of the Positive fm Radio Family and an Akure based Vulcanizer, Mr Joshua Obaniyi,, Press Secretary to the Owa of Idanre Mr Ganiyu Agbelusi and a popular Idanre born broadcaster, Mr Franklin Akinnola

 

There was medical check up for elders at who attended the programme by HZS and personnel from the general hospital idanre.

The event also featured dancing and brain teasing for the senior citizens who included Father of a former commissioner for information in Ondo state, Chief Moses Akinmade and the Yeyeoge of Atosin Idanre, Chief mrs Beatrice Oluwole.
