The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Ondo state has clarified that the return of former governor Olusegun Mimiko to the Party will add value to it especially as the pdp is set to wrestle power from the ruling APC in 2023.

PDP Publicity Secretary in Ondo, Mr Kenedy Peretei  gave the clarification when he featured on Positive fm programme, POLITICAL PODIUM.

There had been speculations that the presence of the former governor popularly called IROKO could polarise the party due to diverse interests among members after four PDP governors namely Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Nyesom Wike, Rivers, Okeizie Ikpeazu, Abia and Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto met with Mimiko in his Ondo home to woo him back to the party.

But Mr Peretei said Mimiko was a man of great political antecedents and expressed the confidence that his clout and experience would assist the party greatly in regaining power in Ondo state.

The Publicity Secretary observed that politics was a game of number and that mimiko’s return with his followers was bound to give the pdp the needed strength to face opposition.

He said ” politics is a game of number and for Dr Mimiko to have returned with his followers, it is a plus to the PDP. It was right for members to express apprehension because the former governor once left the party but I think his return now is a plus to the party.  Let me tell you, the APC is already jittery that Mimiko is back with us, they know what it means”

Speaking on the recent election of new members of the PDP’s National Working Committee, NWC, Mr Peretei  hinted that the party had confidence in the ability of the team, led by Mr Iyorchia Ayu to rescue Nigeria from all its challenges.

According to him, the party is eager to unleash all its good plans on Nigeria for better repositioning.

On the absence of Military personnel at checkpoints in Ondo state as raised by the PDP, Mr Peretei urged the government to do the needful to secure the lives and property of residents.
