The Ondo State Director of the National Orientation Agency, NOA, Mrs Adelayo Adefolalu has urged women to educate their children on the consequences of drug abuse.

Mrs Adefolalu gave the advice while addressing the women wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN) in Akure.

She told all participants who were mainly mothers and students from various schools across the state that drug abuse was often caused by frustrations, inferiority complex and lack of proper exposure to health talk in schools.

Mrs Adefolalu also stressed that the results of drug abuse were most times devastating as the abuser suffer ailments such as  damage of the nervous system, respiratory problems, mental disorder, eventual death among others.

She emphasized that NOA and NDLEA were in synergy to curb drug abuse among youths, men and women and to drasticslly check the increasing rate of self medication, self prescription and misuse of over the counter drugs among Nigerians.

The NOA boss advised parents to always counsel their children to seek medical attention whenever they noticed any health challenge.

During an interactive engagement at the forum, Mrs Adefolalu handled a practical session on Covid-19 non pharmaceutical preventionary measures.

This centered on Proper hand washing and enlightenment on the covid-19 vaccines. The vaccines as described, are highly effective substance used to stimulate the productions of antibodies and provides immunity which strengthens and fight to defend the body system against one or several diseases that the body may be exposed to.

The NOA boss also enlightened the participants at the forum on the benefits of the Covid-19 vaccine saying it was safe.
