The outbreak of covid 19 more than two years down the line has continued to alter global events in a manner beyond imagination including educational activities

Most recent is the announcement by authorities of the University of Ibadan restricting participation at this year’s convocation ceremony to first class graduands while others were asked to join virtually.

Reacting to this , a group of undergraduates who spoke with Radio Nigeria in Akure , Peter Adesua , Adedoyin Ifeoluwa, Ifeoluwa Marvelous faulted U.I authorities for such a decision noting that prevention of covid 19 still revolved around observing safety protocols and not the other way round.

Also , a parent , Mr Adegbenro Adebanjo enjoined the University to rescind the decision while another parent , Mrs Uloma Ireneri expressed support for the restriction considering the pandemic prevalence.

Though the convocation ceremony is still some days ahead, it is still unclear if other categories of graduands would be allowed to participate physically in the event.
