The defence of Ondo State 2022 Budget Proposal christened “Budget of Economic Re-Engineering” has commenced at the State House of Assembly.
Declaring the defence open, the Speaker, Mr Bamidele Oleyelogun said the budget had passed through elaborate debate during the second reading before the committee stage.
Mr Oleyelogun noted that the committee was expected to do a thorough scrutiny on the provisions contained in the proposal together with all Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
In a welcome speech, Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Mr Sunday Olajide commended the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget for going round the 18 Local governments to gather input from the grassroots in the course of packaging the budget proposal.
Mr Olajide also acknowledged prompt responses of other MDAs to the request of Economic Planning and Budget at every stage of the preparation of the Budget proposal which contributed to the readiness of the document as scheduled.
While calling for maximum cooperation for smooth running of the exercise, Mr Olajide added that the budget revealed the prioritization of the economic sector with the highest allocation of 54% meant to address lots of economic matters including creation of jobs for the teeming unemployed youth.
