Another devastating rainstorm has hit the ancient town of Ikare Akoko in Ondo State destroying many houses, eletric poles, wire and cables while two residents were reportedly injured during the rain.

This is the second time within two months that rainstorm wreaked havoc in the town.

The first rainstorm in the town affected areas like okela,okoja and Iku causing the death of a popular butcher popularly known as Ayepareti.

Tuesday’s incident was made worse as wildwood and lightning accompanied the rain which lasted about 40mins.

Residents whose property were damage  by the rainstorm were seen crying and wailing.

Positive fm gathered that the most affected areas in Ikare Akoko were Ilepa the commercial area of the town, Eshe street and part of jubilee up to hospital junction.

A house belonging to a hundred year old chairman of Ikare Akoko elders forum, Elder James oladetohun was also affected by the storm as the roof was carted away.

A community leader in Ilepa Ikare community, Mr Comway Ogunleye and a landlady,  Mrs Mustapha Aremu appealed to government to assist victims of the rainstorm.
