Ondo state government says efforts are being intensified to eliminate malaria through massive distribution of 3.3million free insecticide treated nets across the state.

The permanent secretary Ministry of Health, Mrs foluke Aladenola made this known while speaking at a media parley in Akure.

Mrs Aladenola said that data capturing of households for the nets would commence soon and called for cooperation by residents to make the exercise a success.

Also speaking,  technical leader for Malaria campaign in Ondo state, Mrs Titilope Akinlalu explained that the distributuon of Insecticide Treated Net would be in a single phase door to door distribution approach for a period of twelve days.

Mrs Akinlalu who noted that two hundred nets were expected to be distributed per day said the mobilizers health educators have been adequately trained in line with the Covid 19 guidelines

Earlier, The representative of malaria consortium group, Dr Ehon Anthony had expressed concern over the havoc wreaked by malaria saying it accounted for thirty four percent of child morbidity.

Dr Anthony said media engagement was necessary to enlighten the public on the need for household to embrace the use of insecticide treated nets with one hundred percent compliance.
