The crisis rocking Ikare Akoko in Akoko Northeast local government area of Ondo state took a new dimension on Thursday as hoodlums made frantic efforts to set ablaze a building belonging to a late monarch in the town.

This is despite the 24 hour curfew imposed on the ancient town coupled with efforts of security agents to end the crisis which had claimed some lives.

The house which reportedly housed a commercial bank was however prevented from being burnt as security personnel quickly moved in.

The Ikare police area commander, ACP Muri Agboola who coordinated his men to avert what could have turned to a major  disaster said some windows of the building were however shattered.

Mr Okunola assured residents of ikare and its environs especially Corps members undergoing three weeks Orientation camp in Ogbagi Akoko to remain calm as efforts were being intensified to restore peace to the town.
