Mathematics can further be simplified when the subject is taught in local languages particularly at the formative levels for better understanding.

A Professor of Mathematics, Sunday Kayode stated this in Akure while delivering the Federal University of Technology, Akure Futa 141Ist inaugural lecture Tagged: Numeric: The Bedrock of Human Endeavors

Professor Kayode who called for the introduction of relevant cultural goals, subjects and local languages into the nation’s curriculum to fast track development charged government at all levels to make concerted efforts at improving funding of mathematics projects and research at every level of education in Nigeria.

He advised that operators of educational institutions in the country should ensure strict compliance with employment of qualified and competent mathematics teachers to teach the subject at all levels.

Earlier, Futa Vice Chancellor, Professor Joseph Fuwape who lauded the research works of Professor Sunday Kayode noted that the inaugural lecture’s inputs to educational development could not be quantified.

Dignitaries who graced the occasion included the a former Futa regisrar, Dr Olayinka Ajayi among others.
