The Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers’ Union of Nigeria ( RATTAWU), Ondo Council congratulates members as christians world over commemorate the noble birth of our Lord Jesus Christ in Bethlehem.
In a press statement jointly issued by the State Union Chairman, Comrade Olorunfemi Kayode and Secretary, Comrade Egbukuyomi Sunday at the Union Secretariat, Old Alagbaka, Akure on Friday,24th December, 2021, the Council is particularly happy that Members are alive to witness yet another memorable event in an era of serious inadequacies as being orchestrated by not caring owners of labour in our land.
The Union calls on its entire members to be more dutiful in their various official positions and equally beckons on them to nurture hidden skills that could complement their monthly salaries as many State Governments including ours have overtly and covertly introduced monthly percentage calculation in paying workers.
On the yet to be announced removal of subsidy on petrol(PMS) and its envisioned multiplier effects on the economy, Ondo RATTAWU as a proactive union, is solidly behind every move by the organized labour in the country to seeing that the satanic removal does not see the light of the day as workers and indeed, Nigerians are tired of additional improverishment.
Meanwhile, Ondo RATTAWU commends both the Federal Government of Nigeria and Ondo State for their efforts in tackling insecurity in the land. Recent but intensified bombardments of criminals nationwide expecially in the North East by the FG are noted as the union wants these and many more sustained.
The Council equally wishes to thank Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, Governor of Ondo State for taming crimes in the State with the ever increasing presence of Amotekun Security Outfit in all the nooks and crannies of the State.
At this juncture, we say more grease to the elbow of the Able Governor.
Concerning Covid-19 and compulsory administration of its vaccine on members, the union calls for restraint on the part of employers as workers’ medical dossiers must not be compromised as the union cannot afford to lose any of its members.
No one is doubting the efficacy of the vaccine but cautions must not be thrown to the wastebasket!
On a final note, our great union wishes to reiterate that workers’ interest and well-being are of paramount concerns to the leadership at least at this level. We would always strive to maintain the tempo.
We wish every member a merry Christmas and a happy new year in advance.
Aluta continua, Victoria Ascerta!
