A Consultant Ophthalmologist, Dr Simisola Adaramola has commended a group, AKURE CITY ELITES CLUB A.C.E for its selfless and humanitarian service by footing the medical bills of some less privileged with eye problems.
Addressing journalists after carrying out surgical operations on the patients at her Day Star eye Clinic, Ijapo, Akure, Dr Adaramola said one of the best gifts anyone or group could render to the needy was free medical care especially in the midst of a harsh economy.
She noted that out of the ten patients that were successfully operated on, some came with partial blindness, cataract while some had gone blind totally due to their inability to pay for medical surgery.
Responding, the president of Akure City Elites Club Mr Olusayo Dairo said the group consist of twenty members, raised in Akure and now thriving in their various fields of endeavours thought it wise to give back to the society that made them
Mr Dairo who was flanked by another member of the club, Mr Bidemi Iwajomo noted that the group, last year, donated some materials to the Ago-Ireti leprosy home in Akure but decided to help those with eyes challenges this year.
Another member of the group Mr Oluwole Ogunmusere affirmed the commitment of ACE in embarking on selfless services always.
Two beneficiaries of the free eye surgery who could not hold their joy, Mrs Foluke Ajayi and Pastor Kolawole Ojo thanked Akure Club Elites for the humanitarian gesture.
