Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has appealed to well meaning Nigerians and corporate ogranisations to always support families of fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for the unity of the nation.
Governor Akeredolu made the appeal in Akure at the launch of Emblems for the 2022 armed forces remembrance day celebration.
The governor represented by his Deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa said government alone could not cater for the families of the fallen heroes hence the call on wealthy individuals to partner government at all levels to care for the dependants of the soldiers.
He said “I wish to encourage all government functionaries, our corporate organizations, good spirited individuals and Non-Governmental organizations to make their generous donations so that reasonable money can be raised for the well-being of the dependant and relations of those departed heroes”
“I call on our well to do citizens to partner government in taking care of the dependants of our fallen heroes towards alleviating their sufferings and bringing succour to them” .

Governor Akeredolu however promised that the state government would render the needed assistance to legionnaires while the widows and families of the departed ones would be considered for government empowerment programs to better their lives.
“We will always be ready to give necessary support and render the required assistance to the legionnaires in the State, while widows of the departed ones would always be considered for government empowerment programmes to ensure that they live socially acceptable lives” .
The armed forces remembrance day celebration will come up on 15th January next year throughout the country.
It is meant to remember the supreme sacrifice paid by the soldiers.
