President Muhammadu Buhari commiserates with the Alao-Akala family, the government and people of Oyo State on the passing of a former governor of the State, Otunba Christopher Alao-Akala.

As a former police officer and civilian governor with an extensive political career, the President affirms that Otunba Akala served the country and the people of Oyo State with dedication, making very important contributions to the development of institutions and communities.

The President trusts that family, friends and associates who mourn the late Governor, will honour his vision of entrenching good governance in the country and passion to lift the downtrodden in the society.

The President prays God almighty to grant the departed eternal rest and comfort those who mourn.

Alao Akala: He Was Dependable, Served Oyo Meritoriously…..Akeredolu

Chairman of the Southwest Governors’ Forum and Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, has described the death of former Governor of Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, as a personal loss.

Governor Akeredolu, who recalled his relationship with Akala, as a former Governor and later APC chieftain, said he was a dependable friend.

Arakunrin Akeredolu, while noting that the news of Akala’s death came as a rude shock, lamented that the Southwest, especially Oyo State have lost a giant and quintessential politician who was committed to friendship, progress and development of the society till the end.

“The finality of death is a hard reality to deal with. Notwithstanding, it is a puzzle that only God understands. He giveth and taketh. Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala did not bid us farewell. We were not prepared to lose him now. The news of his demise came as a rude shock. It is, indeed, a piercing pain.

“More than mere emotional flashes, we reflect on the time and moments we have shared, the struggles we all partook. Our wins and constant hope together. His death causes a deafening silence in our heart. It is a big blow dealt on us.

“As a former Governor, Akala did his best by contributing immensely to the growth of the pacesetter state. Under his reign, the people witnessed development in all ramifications. He was a man that loved his people.

“Akala was a strong pillar of our great party, the APC, in Oyo State. He played the elderly role by stabilizing the party in the state. His death is a huge loss to the APC.” The Governor said.

According to Governor Akeredolu, late Akala served Oyo state meritoriously, having served as deputy Governor, and then, Governor of the state.

“On behalf of my wife, Betty, government and the good people of Ondo State, I commiserate with Chief Akala’s wife, Kemi; his children; and the entire family as well as the government and the people of Oyo State, particularly, Ogbomoso. May God Almighty grant him eternal Peace.” Governor Akeredolu said.

SANWO-OLU MOURNS ALAO-AKALA, COMMISERATES WITH MAKINDE, OYO APC

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has described the death of the former Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, as a great loss to his family, the people of Oyo State, particularly sons and daughters of Ogbomoso and Nigeria as a whole.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also commiserated with Oyo State Governor, Mr. Seyi Makinde, as well as leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress,APC, both at the state and national level over the demise of the party’s apex leader in Oyo State.

In a statement, Governor Sanwo-Olu noted that Otunba Alao-Akala’s shocking demise had opened a deep sore in the hearts of the people of Oyo State and Nigerians, who looked up to him as a rallying point and a political stabilizer.

The Governor also sympathized with the Alao-Akala’s family and urged them to take heart, noting that the former Governor’s service to the people of Ogbomoso, Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole would remain his enduring legacy.

He said: “On behalf of the government and people of Lagos, I commiserate with my brother, the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, sons and daughters of Ogbomoso, people of Oyo State, the deceased family, friends and political associates on the death of Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala.

“The passage of Otunba Alao-Akala hurts me because of the critical role he is playing in Oyo APC before his demise. My heart was filled with grief when I was informed about his death.

“Otunba Alao-Akala was more than a politician. He was a man of many parts, whose managerial skills and experience are required at this critical period in our national life, especially in our party, APC ahead of the 2023 general elections.

“He served Oyo State passionately first as a Deputy Governor and later as Governor. He did his best in contributing his quota to the growth and development of Ogbomoso as council chairman as well as Oyo State as a Governor. He also made his mark in the Nigerian Police where he retired as Assistant Commissioner of Police in 1995 before venturing into politics.”

“I pray that Almighty God be pleased with the soul of Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala and grant the family and the people of Ogbomoso and Oyo State the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
