Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu wants Nigerians to continue to appreciate the fallen heroes who have paid the supreme prize for the unity of the country

He gave the advice at the 2022 armed forces remembrance day celebration in Akure.

Governor Akeredolu said the living military should also be appreciated for their continual combat against terrorism among other nature of crimes in recent years.

 

The governor encouraged individuals and organisations to continue to engage the living legions and be supportive to the families of the fallen heroes

Governor Akeredolu also recognized the supports of other security agents especially the police and Amotekun Corps for making it possible to enjoy peaceful atmosphere across the State.

Earlier, the commissioner for Women Affairs and social development, Dr Julianah Osadahun had solicited supports for the families of the fallen heroes to boost the morale of serving personnel and the living heroes.

Highpoints of the remembrance day attended by security chiefs, religious and traditional rulers including Brigadier General Yakubu Yahaya and Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi included the parade and wreath laying as well as presentation of softloan cheques to families of the departed heroes.

Armed forces remembrance day is an annual event in memory of the nation’s fallen heroes and veterans, recounting their sacrifices during the first and second world war, Nigerian civil war and peace support operations around the world.
