The super Eagles of Nigeria today defeated Sudan 3-1 to qualify for the knockout statge of the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup.of Nations, AFCON in Cameroon.

Union Berlin of Germany striker, Taiwo Awoniyi scored the half time stoppage time to hand the Augustine Eguavoen led lads a 2-0 lead before the break.

Moses Simon got himself on the score sheet after he scored a wonderful goal in the 46th minute of the second half.

Sudan pulled a goal back in the second half from the spot kick through Walieldin Khidir in the 70th minute.

The penalty which was awarded following off-ball moment involving defender Ola Aina ended up a consolation for the Falcons

The victory for the Super Eagles, their second in Group D, took them to six points and qualification into the Round of 16.

Nigeria joins host, Cameroon and Morocco in the knockout statge.

Sudan will need to win Egypt in their last group match and hope results else where would favour them to entertain any hope of knockout berth.
