Over one hundred internally displaced persons have been rendered homeless as a result of fire disaster at Gamborun Ngala IDP camp in Borno state.
The fire outbreak which occurred on Sunday evening, completely destroyed twenty four shelters which include three mudbrick shelters, twelve makeshift shelters and nine Emergency shelters.
In an interview, official of Borno state Emergency Management Agency SEMA in Gamborun Ngala, Malam Yusuf Gulumba told newsmen that the cause of the fire is yet to be established, however investigation has already commenced.
According to him no life was lost due to the incident, however very few people sustained minor injuries while trying to put out the fire.
Malam Yusuf Gulumba called on Federal and Borno state government to provide food and non-food items as well as shelter for the victims to address their immediate needs.
Reports says the Gamborun Ngala camp has a population of over forty thousand IDPs and last witnessed such incident In April 2019.
