Dr. Abiola Oshodi, a psychiatry expert based in Canada, has paid West African School Certificate Examination(WASCE) registration fees for over 60 students in different private schools in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The students, who were selected from different private schools in the local government, were registered for 2022 senior secondary school O’ Level examination.
Meanwhile, the gesture was done through his Foundation, Abiola Oshodi Foundation, which has been implementing different empowerment programmes in Ose and Owo local government areas of the state.
According to Dr. Oshodi the payment of registration fees for the students in private schools was a way of reducing poverty in every household, especially the indigent ones.
He said human capacity building through massive investment in education would go a long way in turning around the lives of the beneficiaries as well as the fortunes of communities.
The Foundation has supported several students in achieving their academic pursuits by awarding them scholarships and bursaries.
Commending the state government for paying for students in public schools, Dr. Oshodi urged the beneficiary students to seize the opportunity and perform very well in the examination.
He disclosed that the Foundation had concluded plans to offer more scholarship awards to students studying STEM courses in 2022.
The Foundation, therefore, called for strategic partnerships with parents and academia towards attainment of sustainable STEM education in Ose/Owo federal constituency.
