ONDO STATE COMMISSIONER FOR ENERGY, MINES AND MINERAL RESOURCES, MR RAZAK OBE SAYS THE PEOPLE OF THE SOUTHERN SENATORIAL DISTRICT WILL BE ALLOWED TO CHOOSE THEIR PREFERRED POWER DISTRIBUTION COMPANY ASIDE BEDC AS STIPULATED BY THE LAW.

MR OBE STATED THIS ON POSITIVE FM PROGRAMME, GUEST OF THE WEEK WHILE ANSWERING QUESTIONS ON OVER FOURTEEN YEARS POWER OUTAGE IN THE AREA.

THE COMMISSIONER SAID THE PEOPLE OPTED FOR THE OPTION CONSIDERING THE CHALLENGES OF BLACKOUT THEY GRAPPLED WITH OVER THE YEARS.

MR 0BE ANNOUNCED THAT GOVERNMENT WOULD COMPEL BEDC THROUGH MACHINERY OF LAW TO MAKE PREPAID METRES AVAILABLE TO PEOPLE OF THE STATE SO THAT ESTIMATED BILLINGS WOULD BECOME A THING OF THE PAST.

ON THE ISSUE OF LICENSES FOR MODULAR REFINERIES, MR OBE POINTED OUT THAT ONLY STANDARD COMPANIES COULD SHOULDER THE CHALLENGES OF OIL EXPLORATION CONSIDERING ITS CHALLENGES TO THE ENVIRONMENT.

THE COMMISSIONER WHO EXPRESSED SUPPORT FOR THE REMOVAL OF FUEL SUBSIDY FROM PREMIUM MOTOR SPIRIT SAID THE STEP WAS GOOD FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE ECONOMY AS IT WOULD ALLOW MARKET FORCES TO DETERMINE THE PRICES.
