Ondo State government is set to begin the second round of outbreak response against polio virus in the state on Saturday, Jan 22, 2022

The Permanent Secretary, Primary health care development Agency, Dr Francis Akanbienmu announced this at a stakeholders meeting in Akure.

Dr Akanbiemu explained that though there had been no case of polio in the state, children needed to be fortified against the disease which was already circulating in some states.

Dr Akanbiemu called on all stakeholders to embark on advocacy  campaign  in their community in the bid to ensure all children in the state were vaccinated.

Also speaking,  the Director Disease Control and immunization in the state, Dr Victor Adefesoye hinted that health workers had been adequately trained for the immunisation programme.

Dr Adefesoye said the personnel would be available in public places such as markets, churches, mosques, malls and other strategic locations for the exercise slated to run from 22nd to 25th of this month.

Earlier in a welcome address, the Director Community health education, Dr Samuel had Abiona appreciated all stakeholders for helping Ondo state to remain polio free.

Dr Abiona Urged mothers and caregivers to make children available for vaccination against the child killer disease.

In her word, the state health educator, Mrs Yetunde Akinyosoye implored mothers to give correct information about their children and ensure that they get the vaccine.

Present are the meeting were health educators from all the eighteen local government areas in the state, Market heads, Religious leaders, NGOs among other stakeholders
