The All Progressives Congress, APC, has applauded the Federal Government’s suspension of the planned removal of subsidy on petroleum products.

A statement by the Secretary, National Caretaker Committee of the party, Senator John Akpanudoedehe, describes the action as responding to the general concerns of citizens that the removal of subsidy will heighten inflation and cause undue hardship.

Senator Akpanudoedehe said Programmes and policies of the APC-led government were meant to benefit the people as demonstrated in the implementation of programmes and policies of the administration.

He explained that in line with the new Petroleum Industry Act, PIA, the Federal Government was putting in place measures, particulary boosting local refining capacities to reduce the country’s reliance on expensive import of refined petroleum products.
