Manchester United midfielder, Mason Greenwood has been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault this Sunday, following posts shared on social media by his girlfriend Harriet Robson.
In the images, a series of photographs of her beaten body were posted to her Instagram story, while an audio clip was also shared.
A statement from Greater Manchester Police was shared on Sunday evening, confirming that the Manchester United player had been taken into custody as the police investigate the matter.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have issued a second statement on allegations facing midfielder Mason Greenwood. The youngster became a topic of discussion on social media on Sunday following accusations of assaulting a woman.
The club has now decided to suspend the player until further notice, according to reports.
Earlier, the club, through a spokesperson, said they don’t ‘condone violence’, and there won’t be ‘further comment’ at this stage.
The 20-year-old made his debut in 2019 and has since clocked up 129 appearances for the club scoring 35 goals
Harriet Robson, the girlfriend of Mason Greenwood, accused the Manchester United star of beating and sexually abusing her.
In a now-deleted post on social media, Robson shared photos of injuries she had when the English player allegedly forced himself on her.
Robson had bruises on her thighs in some of the photos. In one of the images, blood was seen flowing from her mouth to her chest. She also shared an audio message in which she accused Greenwood of being responsible for the wounds.
