Residents stranded as fuel scarcity bites harder in Ondo

Residents of Akure, the Ondo state capital were on Wednesday morning stranded following the fuel scarcity which has made many petrol marketers to shut down their stations.

Our reporter who went round the state capital observed that civil servants and others that wanted to get transport to their various offices could not as few taxis were operating while other commercial vehicles had queued up at filling stations that opened to sell the commodity.

Along Ondo Road,Akure.

The vehicles had been in the filling stations as early as 5 o’clock in the morning as long queues were observed along Ondo road, cathedral and arakale roads among others.

Many major bus stops were filled with passengers begging few private vehicles plying major roads for free ride.

Those who spoke with our reporter lamented the suffering being added to the economic challenge they had been facing before.

They called on the federal government to address what they described as unfortunate development before it got out of hands.
