The commandant general, Nigerian Peace Corps, Dr Mustapha Abubakar says Nigeria unity remains non-negotiable.

Dr Abubakar stated this when the national body of the corps conferred on the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi an exemplary service award in his palace in Akure, Ondo state capital.

The corps commandant general who was accompanied by other zonal and states’ commandants explained that no meaningful development could take place in an atmosphere of rancour hence the need for the citizenry regardless of ethnic, political or religious affiliation to come together.

He enjoined Nigerians to make sure they respect individuals by prioritizing love for one another so that the country could remain united as an entity.

Dr Abubakar attributed the award presented to the Monarch as a recognition of his contributions to peace and harmony within Akureland.

He said despite housing so many people from different regions, Akure the capital city still remained hospitable and united to all Nigerians.

Receiving the first-class award of the Nigerian peace corps, Oba Aladetoyinbo maintained that the capital city would continue to accommodate peaceful and law-abiding communities Nationwide.

Appreciating the Corps for the recognition, The paramount ruler of Akureland noted that it was high time the federal government incorporated the peace corps into the paramilitary system to further address prevailing insecurity in the country

The Nigerian Peace Corps when fully established would ensure peace and unity, resolve conflicts between warring parties, monitor out of school children and animal policing among others.
