Ondo state government has reaffirmed commitment to improve more on its security apparatus to enhance forest conservation and preservation.

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu made this known while speaking at a forum with the theme Securing the Nigeria’s forest estates for sustainable development at the Dome in Akure.

 

The Governor who was represented by his deputy, Lucky Ayedatiwa said that the Amotekun corp had assisted in checkmating criminal activities in the government forest reserves for the preservation of forest resources for the use of the people of ondo state

He noted that the inter ministerial-committee set up by government was to come up with strategy to further manage the vast forest resources for exploration.

 

According to Akeredolu, over the years ,half a billion naira was committed to forestry development through conservation, reservation of the state’s forestry estate ,regeneration programme, regular anti encroachment drive for optimal productivity.

Earlier ,the president of the forestry Association of Nigeria ,Alhaji Rufai Ibrahim had said the forestry security was key to sustainable preservation of huge resources in the sector for national development.
