The management of the University of Ibadan has ordered the immediate shut down of the institution
A statement signed by the registrar of the school, Olubunmi Faluyi says the step was imperative due to the ongoing strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU.
The statement says there was no need for students to stay on campus since the strike had been extended by eight weeks.
The students are mandated to vacate the halls of residence with immediate effect.
The statement urges that Postgraduate students who have paid their fees and undergraduate students who are on industrial attachment or practical training are exempted from this vacation notice.
It adds that such students are to visit the Office of the Dean of Students for accommodation arrangement.
