THE OONI OF IFE, OBA ADEYEYE ENITAN OGUNWUSI HAS CAUTIONED HIS PEOPLE AGAINST TAKING LAWS INTO THEIR HANDS WHILE REGISTERING THERE GREIVANCE OVER THE SELECTION OF A NON-INDIGENE AS THE NEW VICE CHANCELLOR FOR OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY, ILE-IFE.

OBA OGUNWUSI IN A STATEMENT BY HIS DIRECTOR OF MEDIA AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS, MR MOSES OLAFARE ASSURED WORKERS AND STUDENTS OF THE INSTITUTION OF THE SAFETY OF THEIR LIVES AND PROPERTY.

THE OONI URGED THE PEOPLE TO AVOID ACTS CAPABLE OF TRUNCATING PEACE AND SECURITY IN THE ANCIENT CITY PROMISING THAT THEIR REQUEST WOULD BE GIVEN ADEQUATE ATTENTION.

ACCORDING TO HIM, PROTEST IS ALWAYS ADOPTED BY PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS AND TRADE UNIONS TO DRIVE HOME THEIR DEMANDS, BUT IT MUST BE PEACEFUL.

OBA OGUNWUSI SAID THAT THE HOST COMMUNITY WOULD CONTINUE TO PARTNER THE INSTITUTION THROUGH THE HOUSE OF ODUDUWA ON PROGRAMMES AND PROJECTS CAPABLE OF PROJECTING ILE-IFE TO THE OUTSIDE WORLD AS AN ANCIENT CITY READY FOR PROGRESS AND DEVELOPMENT.

HE MAINTAINED THAT THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE TOWN AND THE SCHOOL REMAINED AS STRONG AS EVER, PARTICULARLY TO THE BENEFIT OF THE YOUNGER ONES IN AND OUTSIDE THE UNIVERSITY.

MEANWHILE, REPORT SAYS NORMALCY HAS RETURNED TO THE CAMPUS ASĀ  MASQURADES AND OTHER PROTESTERS HAVE LEFT THE CAMPUS TO ALLOW RESUMPTION OF ACADEMICS AND NON-ACADEMICS ACTIVITIES.
