Foreign and regional airlines have started flight operations from the newly inaugurated Lagos International terminal.
The first flight to operate from there was Lagos-Accra at 7am on Tuesday by a Nigerian airline, the first to have successfully relocated its operations from the old terminal to the new one.
Spokesman for the airline, Stanley Olisa, said, the flying public has been notified of the movement of its international and regional flight departures from the Terminal 2 of the Lagos Airport.
“We are delighted to be the first airline to operate a flight at the newly commissioned MMIA Terminal 2 and going forward, all our regional and international departures will be from this new terminal. We commend the Federal Government for the feat, and we will continue to blaze the trail”.
He adds, “passengers flying to Accra, Banjul, Freetown, Douala, Dakar, Johannesburg and Dubai are henceforth expected to proceed to the new terminal for ticketing, check-in and boarding”.
Mr Olisa assured that, its ground personnel were ready to assist the passengers to ensure they seamlessly adjust to this new development.
Other airlines are also expected to relocate their operations to the terminal as soon as possible.
A week ago, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, carried out a mock exercise to ascertain the readiness of the airlines, security agencies and other stakeholders for seamless facilitation.
