Muslims on Monday converged on Ajipowo/Customs junction, Ondo Road Akure, to observe a two rakat prayer to mark this year’s Eld-el-fitri celebration.
Leading the special Eid prayer, the Chief Imam of Ajipowo-Akure, Sheikh Moshood Hasbunallahi prayed for peaceful co-existence and economic prosperity for the country.
Imam Hasbunallahi cautioned Muslims against abandoning good deeds they practised during the just concluded ramadan fast.
The Islamic Scholar also advised faithful not to celebrate sallah with what are forbidden by Almighty Allah, saying giving alms and Zakat to the less privileged were compulsory for those who observed the ramadan fast.
Also, Muslims in Idanre joined others throughout the world to observe the two rakat prayers at the Eid Praying Ground
Speaking on the occasion , the Mufasir of Ojude Central Mosque, Alfa Shirul Alowonle admonished the faithful to humble themselves before God using their resources to help the needy.
He also called on the youths to be actively involved in propagation and practice of Islam.
The cleric charged the youths against lukewarm attitude towards religion resulting in rising vices among the youths and then urged them to imbibe the virtues commanded by Holy Prophet Mohammed.
Meanwhile, The Owa of Idanre , Oba Frederick Aroloye has called on religious groups to be tolerant for the unity and peace of the country .
Oba Aroloye made the call plea in his palace while receiving the leaders of Muslim community in Idanre who paid him salah homage.
The monarch noted that both Islam and Christianity abhor shedding of blood and killing of innocent hence the need to unite against rising spate of vices in the society
He commended the Muslims in Idanre for being law abiding and also expressed happiness at the increasing population of Muslims in his domain.
In a remark , the chief imam of Idanre , Alhaji Jimoh Ali represented by Chief Missioner and Chief Mufassir of Idanre council area , Alhaji Usman Abayomi appreciated the monarch describing him as God fearing.
