Ahead of the 2023 general election that is fast approaching, some youth groups in the Oke Ogun Region of Oyo State have called on a federal lawmaker, Honourable Shina Peller, to contest for the Oyo North Senatorial seat, just as they have started raising funds among themselves to purchase APC expression of interest and nomination forms for the lawmaker.

It would be recalled that some youth groups, particularly from the Northern part of the country, had earlier called on Honourable Peller to vie for the seat of the number one citizen of the country, arguing that the federal legislator represents the change that the youth seek.

However, the youths from Oke Ogun stressed that they need Honourable Peller to represent them and the entire people of Oyo North Senatorial District in the 10th Assembly, describing him as their preferred candidate.

Explaining why he is their preferred candidate, the youths  observed that Honourable Peller is the most popular among those eying the seat.

They added that he has strong ties with all the three notable zones in the senatorial district. They explained that Oke Ogun 1 where the lawmaker currently represents is where he hails from. Their second point is that Honourable Peller’s mother hails from Kishi, Oke Ogun 2, whilst zone 3 (Ogbomoso) was where he had his first and second degrees. According to them, he is well connected with the three zones and that he is a significant factor in determining which party the electorates in the district will cast their votes for.

To show their level of commitment to the Shina Peller for Senate 2023 project, they have vowed to raise needed funds to make it a reality.

A post shared on social media by one of the members of the youth groups , Haadi Yunus Oyetayo, read:

“As part of our efforts to support the Oyo North Senatorial bid of Honourable (Dr.) Shina Abiola Peller, we have started gathering funds among ourselves to purchase expression of interest and nomination forms for him.

“The following are the groups pushing for the Senatorial forms:

Join us in making this dream a reality.”
